Sensing and Planning in Robotics: Project Tools

Back to CS 547: Sensing and Planning in Robotics course homepage

Textbook: The (required) textbook for the class is Probabilistic Robotics (by Thrun, Burgard, and Fox) from MIT Press. The book will be available in the USC bookstore.

Simulator: The Player/Stage/Gazebo set of software tools are freely available. Player is a server and allows you to interface to the robots, as well as the simulators (Stage/Gazebo). If you have your own Linux machine, you are encouraged to download Player/Stage and install it. If not, an account will be provided to you on a Linux machine in Gaurav's lab. You will be able to access this account remotely from the ISD cluster in SAL.

Robots: Limited access will be provided to Pioneer and Segway robots with wireless ethernet, sonar, laser, cameras, and encoders. This is reserved for students whose projects show exceptional promise in simulation.
